Among the various injuries that can occur to the ankle, ankle sprain is the one with highest incidence among dancers. Dancers are usually able to maintain stability in the various degrees of position in plantar flexion both in demi-pointe and in full en-pointe thanks to the action of the static and dynamic stabilizing muscles of the ankle. Hence, an impairment of this joint constitutes a serious injury.
Through the analysis of a clinical case, this article examines what type of treatment should be employed and proposes a series of exercises for each different phase of rehabilitation, as well as specific exercises to prepare the dancer for the return to the dance hall or on stage.
