Midportion Achilles tendinopathy is a clinical condition characterized by pain in correspondence to the Achilles tendon or its insertion, morning stiffness, and a reduced functionality. Therapeutic exercise based on eccentric and isometric exercise training has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing tendon pain. The clinical management should nevertheless be based on a progressive loading of the muscle-tendon unit and of the entire kinetic chain lower limb through isometric, eccentric-concentric and eccentric exercises chosen on the basis of multiple factors.
