Chronic low back pain is one of the major longstanding pain syndrome spread in the Western Countries. It’s common cause of several disease, as absenteeism and increased health care utilization. The aim of this article is to present an overview of alternative therapies for pharmacological treatment. Indeed, the medical literature survey shows the validity of an integrated physiotherapy - psychological approach to provide benefit to patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. The role played by physical exercise is highlighted, as well as the importance of using pain self-management. Because non-specific chronic low back pain has a multi-factor nature, any integrated intervention strategy needs to be calibrated based on single patient’ needs.
