The AOFAS’s Ankle-Hindfoot Evaluation Scale (AHES) is specific to the region of the ankle and hindfoot, is strictly clinical and requires no radiologic images for the scoring. The assessment scale is composed of the following nine items: pain, limitations in activities and support requirement, maximum walking distance (in blocks walked), ability to walk on diverse surfaces, gait abnormality, sagittal and hindfoot motion, and joint stability and alignment. The score ranges from 0 points (indicating severe pain and impairment) to 100 points (no symptoms or impairment). The questionnaire is reliable and validated in the Italian language.
