Respiratory rehabilitation can be defined as a program of multidisciplinary, individually-tailored care for patients with chronic respiratory disease. An extensive use of respiratory rehabilitation as a key aspect of the management of many chronic respiratory diseases is relatively recent. To date, numerous studies in the literature have shown its effectiveness in the management of respiratory patients in terms of a variety of outcomes such as symptoms improvement, the slowing down of anatomical-pathological damage, prevention of exacerbations and complications, as well as improved exercise tolerance and quality of life. This interview with Simone Gambazza, a physiotherapist in the respiratory field, explores the state of the art in this field of rehabilitation and the potential future developments.
