Our mind implements thinking shortcuts that influence our decisions and lead us into reasoning er- rors (bias). No one (not even the expert) is immune to bias, these advantages consistently influence clinical practice. The article specifically describes authority bias. After describing some examples, that could also be of interest to clinical practice, it underlines the need to increase the professional’s awareness and critical thinking in order to reduce the risk of error in diagnostic field.
