Instrumental gait analysis is a tool that enables the clinician to describe in a more scientific and reliable way some of the gait patterns and mechanisms at the basis of walking disability, to identify the most appropriate therapeutic strategies for addressing the problem and to evaluate the outcome. To date, gait analysis has been widely employed as a research tool, but its clinical application has been more controversial and limited, since strong evidence on the cost-efficacy of the technology is not yet available. Within the EB Talk section, we asked Mariano Serrao to talk about the relationship between gait analysis technology and EBM.
