Ligament injuries of the lower limb (knee and ankle) are the most common injury in athletes, both amateur and professional. The ultimate goal of rehabilitation in these patients is without doubt an early return to the level of pre-injury competitive sport in accordance with the times and limits imposed by the ongoing healing process. An early rehabilitation of a functional type, focused first on protecting the injured structure and then on recovering the controlled mechanical load, seems to be the most appropriate approach. The aquatic setting can represent a valid therapeutic context thanks to the intrinsic properties of the medium. In our section of this issue, we present the available evidence on this topic.
