Spinal injury: the key role of the occupational therapist
in the rehabilitation plan

By definition, occupational therapy (OT), also known as ergotherapy, is a rehabilitation discipline that utilizes activities for the assessment and treatment in order to develop, recover or maintain the working or daily life skills of people with cognitive, physical, psychologic and physical disabilities. It also deals with the identification and elimination of environmental barriers to increase autonomy and independence and participation in daily, work, social activities.
