The article describes the cognitive and emotional components that characterize pain and the comorbidities often found in patients with chronic pain. In particular, it focuses on the psychological factors that influence the perception of pain, in particular emotions and the concept of catastrophization. Finally, the article offers suggestions for analyzing psychological factors of pain in the clinical practice.
