Cognitive biases influence decision-making in healthcare. Among the different types of cognitive biases, the article examines confirmation bias. It is a prejudice characterized by the tendency to confirm one’s hypotheses while ignoring the contrary beliefs. This bias influences clinical reasoning in healthcare and it causes errors. Although it is not possible to eliminate these biases, however, there are some precautions to be taken in clinical practice. These good practices could reduce the risk of error associated with confirmation bias and help the physiotherapist in daily clinical practice.
