Action bias can be defined as the tendency to act even when the action is not beneficial. Omission bias, in contrast to the previous one, indicates the tendency not to do, even when action should be taken. This article, after an initial discussion related to medical error, describes the role played by action bias and omission bias in daily clinical practice. The article proposes a checklist that the physiotherapist could use to raise awareness of biases.
