The diagnosis of “sarcopenia” refers to a clinical condition characterized by a progressive and generalized age-related loss of muscle mass, strength, and performance. Sarcopenia occurs predominantly in the elderly population and is associated with an increased risk of fragility fractures, impaired performance in performing ADLs, decreased quality of life, and increased risk of mortality. Considering the prevalence of sarcopenia, its multiple clinical manifestations, and the complications with which it is associated, it seems strictly necessary for the physiotherapist to be able to detect the disease early.
