In early 2021, the ISarcoPRM – the special interest group on sarcopenia of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) – proposed a new diagnostic algorithm that enables effective and early diagnosis of sarcopenia. The diagnosis is made through four tests, all of which can be administered in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A validated diagnostic algorithm for sarcopenia contributes to the standardization of clinical practices and promotes better communication among health professionals. This allows to obtain consistent and comparable results in different healthcare facilities, facilitating clinic research and the identification of the best therapeutic approaches to counteract this condition.
