Cognitive bias is a systematic error that stems from an intuitive thinking system, which is often influenced by selectivity, quick judgment, excess or scarcity of information. This article examines self-serving bias, describing its its adaptive role and potential risks. It is provided examples of how this bias can affect professionals and patients in physical therapy settings. In conclusion, the importance of fostering motivation for personal growth is emphasized to mitigate and reduce the impact of this bias.
