Thoracic spine pain is defined as pain experienced in the upper or middle back between the 1st and 12th thoracic vertebrae across the posterior part of the trunk. Thoracic spine pain, in most cases, is described as non-specific. Manual therapy has been shown to be effective for the relief of musculoskeletal pain, but few studies have focused on the thoracic region. Posteroanterior mobilization and spinal manipulation are often used for the treatment of patients with spinal pain. The studies considered show greater efficacy of manual therapy in reducing pain in the short term but based on the data available it is not possible to draw definitive conclusions.
