Non-specific thoracic pain represents only 10% of all pain symptoms related to the spine and very often the pathology is not pertinent to the dorsal vertebral tract, but it’s the symptom of a pathology that affects the cervical or lumbar tract or of a pathology related to abdominal or intrathoracic parenchymal organs. A correct approach to the patient requires a careful medical history and a systematic clinical examination. The radiological imaging with traditional radiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), together with laboratory tests and specialist visits, allow acquiring the necessary elements to arrive at a correct diagnosis. The aim of this paper is to highlight the need to investigate and research the causes of non-specific chronic back pain, based-on the use of common, non-significant radiological findings.
