The decision to return to play after ankle sprain is a multifactorial process involving anatomical, functional and psychological factors. The physiotherapist’s task is to define the person’s real capacity to return to sport activities and reduce the risk of re-injury. In order to make the most appropriate decision, the physiotherapist needs to be guided not only by personal experience but also by the latest EBM guidelines.
