Hallux rigidus defines a spectrum of arthropathies that lead to a limitation of the mobility of the first metatarsophalangeal joint on the sagittal plane, with consequent impaired dorsiflexion of the big toe. The patient may develop some compensation strategies to adapt to this situation which limits the activities of daily living. It is useful to evaluate the adaptation of the interphalangeal joint of the big toe and the hypermobility of the first ray in dorsiflexion.
