Radiotherapy toxicity is one of the main causes of disability stemming from oncological treatments. The damage induced by ionizing radiation is the result of microvascular insults from constriction of the arterioles and dilation of the venules, increase in vessel permeability and production of fibrin deposits. Consequently, immediate inflammation reactions evolve into fibrotic reactions producing structural and functional damage in the teguments and anatomical structures crossed by the radiation.
