Lateral ankle sprain is a very common injury, with a high prevalence in the general population and in individuals who play sports. In the treatment and management of the acute phase, pain reduction and ROM recovery are the main objectives. Early mobilization is better than rigid immobilization, especially for grade I and II sprains. Manual therapy appears to support the recovery of mobility, restoring normal biomechanics and sensorimotor function. Furthermore, in the acute phase, manual therapy allows us to reduce patients’ pain perception.
