The metaverse (MV) is one of the most innovative and promising possibilities for the use of technology. The MV is considered a point of connection of the real world with the virtual world and is composed of four macro areas: augmented reality, virtual reality, lifelogging, and mirror world. The areas often overlap and create hybrid situations, having different characteristics from the individual technologies that comprise them. There are examples of the use of MV technologies in the rehabilitation field, and there are many promises related to future applications. The article describes the areas of MV, some of the current applications, and for each, hypothesizes its use in rehabilitation.
