The increasing use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in clinical practice is due to its ability to respond quickly, economically and repeatedly to most of the clinical questions in the field of muscle- tendon and joint problems. In sports and orthopedics, ultrasound makes it possible to evaluate multiple pathological patterns, including inflammatory processes, entrapment syndromes, and muscle, tendon and ligament injuries. Ultra- sound is useful for the classification and follow- up of diseases, too. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is also widely used in the study of rheumatologic diseases, in particular for the evaluation of disease progression and response to treatment.
