Anterior ankle impingement is a common clinical condition characterized by chronic anterior ankle pain that is exacerbated on dorsiflexion. Although conservative treatment of anterior ankle impingement includes physical therapy, exercises, activity modification, and anti-inflammatory medication, it has been little investigated in the literature, and we have no studies that indicate what precisely the best treatment is. Manual therapy is used during rehabilitation post-surgery, for the recovery of range of motion.
