Knee osteoarthritis: evidence-based patient-centered management

Knee osteoarthritis is one of the most common degenerative problems worldwide, often attributed to degenerative articular changes. But is this really the case? This article presents a clinical case of a man with knee pain attributed to symptomatic osteoarthritis, which recently affects his sports activities, but not his daily life activities. After informing the patient about the nature of the symptoms and the likely prognosis, a conservative approach was proposed aimed to pain control, improving range of motion (ROM) and functional activities, and especially at providing proper education and eliminating the patient's beliefs that influence his symptoms and daily life
