The term ‘exergame’ refers to a technology that combines typical videogame elements with specific motor tasks. The term was born in the eighties and initially it targeted primarily normotype subjects, with motor tasks such as maintaining balance, shifting body weight and jumping. Thanks to the progressive technological development of both hardware and software, many private companies have begun to develop their own characteristics for exergames. There has also been a progressive shift in interest to the world of rehabilitation, in particular neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation. Research has shown that the aspect of involvement combined with motivation can produce positive results in the patient.
