The aim of this article was to assess the statistical data reported in the literature regarding quadriceps strength in partial knee arthroplasty. From the analysis of the data, it emerges that in extending the knee there is greater strength of the quadriceps, particularly with bicompartmental (partial) prostheses. At the same time, bicompartmental arthroplasty results in greater joint stability and better knee kinematics than does total knee replacement.
