Systematic reviews related to musculoskeletal disorders suggest that in addition to biological processes, psychosocial factors heavily influence the presentation and prognosis of symptoms. Cognitive factors such as self-efficacy have been associated with ona better prognosis for chronic pain presentation. Clinicians can improve selfefficacy with the mastery of professional experience and through verbal and non-verbal communication. Self-efficacy plays an important role in developing the ability to cope with pain and is a key mediator of change behavioral.
