Nowadays, the most difficult task for a physical therapist is to carry out the screening for referral process, that is, to understand whether the patient is within his or her competence or whether he or she should be sent to a specialist. To succeed optimally in the screening process, in addition to theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, it is necessary to possess good clinical reasoning. The latter is not without errors, which must be known in order to be avoided. Succeeding in good screening helps the figure of the physical therapist establish himself or herself in the landscape of health professionals, increasing the esteem of physicians and patients.
