Patellofemoral pain is one of the most frequently described conditions affecting the lower extremity. The clinical presentation of PFPS is often described as retropatellar and/or peripatellar knee pain, aggravated by prolonged sitting or activities involving loading on the lower limb. The etiology of PFPS is still not entirely clear and would appear to be multifactorial. The optimal management of PFPS remains very complex, with patients often developing recurrent or chronic pain. Clinicians should consider the use of manual therapy only in the context of a multimodal approach.
