Radiological imaging plays an important role in diagnosing femoroacetabular impingement, and it does so with a simple traditional radiograph, performed properly. The symptoms of the adult patient and the young athlete lead to the performance of the radiologic study only late, after excluding other more frequent inguinal pathologies. Delays in diagnostics unfortunately mean that diagnoses are made in the presence of degenerative joint aspects. However, for a correct diagnosis of femoroacetabular impingement, the radiological picture must always be related to the patient’s clinical picture, without giving absolute values to what appears on radiological imaging.
