There are increasing reports worldwide of the persistence of symptoms following the COVID- 19 disease or of the development of a new symptomatology related to the SARS-CoV-2 infection, which are causing a greater burden on the health system. This syndrome is called “Long COVID” and it generally describes individuals who, following the coronavirus infection, show symptoms for more than 28 days from diagnosis. The symptoms can be similar to acute infection, and their manifestation can be either constant or in a fluctuating manner. The long COVID patient needs a holistic and multidisciplinary approach due to the multi-systemic involvement of the disease. The physiotherapist has a key role to play in improving respiratory function and reducing the feeling of fatigue.
