The main scientific societies in the field of rehabilitation emphasise the importance of initiating rehabilitation early after an acute SARSCoV- 2 infection, in view of the multiplicity of persistent symptoms resulting from (or concomitant with) COVID-19. Post-COVID syndrome is a clinical reality that needs to be understood in depth both from a diagnostic and a therapeutic point of view, and structuring rational and effective paths for the treatment of the disabling consequences of COVID-19 is certainly an urgent clinical task that our rehabilitation teams must face.
Only with a profound knowledge of post-COVID syndrome and defined clinical and instrumental screening protocols will it be possible to identify the signs and symptoms of multi-system involvement at an early stage and promptly set up an appropriate and effective rehabilitation treatment.
