Femoral-acetabular impingement.
Conservative and post-surgical treatment: phases II-V
Gian Nicola Bisciotti, Raul Zini
Femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAI) is a recurrent clinical picture in the context of groin pain syndrome. FAI is often observed in sports activities that make a high functional demand at the coxofemoral joint level. FAI can cause functional limitations and important sequelae. The advances in both diagnosis of FAI and arthroscopic surgery of the hip joint have meant that medical professionals and athletic trainers are increasingly confronted with FAI-related conservative or post-surgical procedures. The purpose of this review is to provide a state of the art on FAI both from a theoretical and practical point of view. In this second article, phases II-V of conservative treatment of Cam-FAI and Pincer- FAI are analyzed.
