Pelvic floor rehabilitation should be considered within a multidisciplinary diagnostic-therapeutic approach with a dual goal: therapeutic and preventive. The tools available today for pelvic floor rehabilitative intervention in urinary incontinence are: therapeutic exercise, education, biofeedback, functional electrical stimulation, and aids. This article explores the use of biofeedback (BFB) in physiotherapy treatment. BFB transforms a feature of a biological activity that is not perceived by the patient into an amplified signal, either audible or visual: feedback, which is a way for the patient to learn the muscle contraction of the pelvic floor muscles. BFB is a safe and well-tolerated rehabilitation intervention methodology for patients.
